The intention behind the conference is to offer an opportunity to exchange knowledge to discuss concepts and developments in the field of architectural computing / design digital
media. We want to pay particular attention to PhD research in the field, however all interested researchers are welcome to submit a paper and attend the conference
Digital media and computation have already permeated probably all spheres of
architecture - from drafting, design processes, through methodologies, to
communication, education, fabrication and construction. It becomes obvious that
computing brings new levels to overall reality of design. Therefore it rises as
a very wide and exciting sphere for research.
Critical reflection on the influences and possibilities that digital media and
computation approaches bring to architecture, is crucial for the development of
the field, through the production of new knowledge. The new, dynamically evolving design environment, undisputably changes both design and architecture itself, changing the physical built environment, but also allows to emerge purely digital worlds.
Research in this area, in most cases, does not focus on "what is"
knowledge, it rather explores new possibilities, processes, solutions and
products, those that did not exist before.
Design computing research is focused on change - in design tools, digital tools
design, methods, concepts and their outcomes. This specific feature of the
field also influences and changes doctoral research - in both: content and
structures of the research projects, as well as organisational frameworks
within which they are conducted.
We do hope that DARe conference will become a forum on which these exciting
aspects will be presented and discussed.
For the first 16 PhD candidates, who will submit a full paper we will offer the scholarship that shall cover all costs of the conference participation.
All accepted papers
will be published in the dedicated monograph.

DARe conference is organized by the Faculty of Architecture, Bialystok University of Technology, Bialystok, Poland, with the support from the Polish National Agency for Scientific Exchange NAWA and Polish Ministry of Education and Science.

This publication is subsidized from the state budget of the Republic of Poland under the program of the Minister of Education and Science under the name Doskonała Nauka for the project of the 1st International Conference Digital Architecture Research DARe - project number DNK / SP / 548004 / 2022 - amount of co-financing 130 350 PLN - total value of the project 272 350 PLN.
The Faculty of Architecture of the Bialystok University of
Technology is happy to announce that 16 scholarships will be offered for foreign (non - Polish) doctoral researchers
to enable participation in the conference (a grant will cover travel,
accomodation and subsistence costs, as a lump sum refund).
In order to be allowed to apply for a scholarship, you must
be either enrolled as a doctoral student or have your PhD project formally
open. The scholarships are funded by the Polish National Agency of Academic Exchange. Grants will be offered to the first 16 potential participants, who will submit a full paper (based on the accepted abstract).
Application procedure will start when
the registration for the conference is open.
